Values Education in the New Zealand Curriculum
Values Education is a compulsory component of the New Zealand Curriculum (2007) due for implementation in all New Zealand Schools in 2010.
- What does Values Education mean in your school?
- How have you explicitly incorporated values learning & practice into your lesson content?
- What training in Values Education do you provide your teachers?
- How do you review Values Education outcomes?
Deborah facilitates professional development seminars for teachers in which she shares resources and demonstrates methods that she has trailed and found successful to infuse the teaching of values across the curriculum and to make such teaching evident.
The ideas shared in Deborah's seminars demonstrate how curriculum boundaries may be crossed as values are explored, modelled and encouraged. Participating teachers have found the seminars stimulating and the ideas shared have provided a springboard for them to develop, monitor and assess values education in their classrooms.
